Music had a stronger influence in my artworks years ago; sadly it became a comfort zone so I started to explore inspiration on more personal thoughts and points of view. Obviously music has always been there and will be, and from time to time there’s an artwork inspired solely on someone else’s expression, shared an interpreted again visually.
I did this image at the same time as The First Crown a month ago on a very spontaneous process. I finished this in two nights only… and almost burn my carpet.

A shame I didn’t saved more steps.
Ved Buens Ende is such a cherished band for me, on my first years taking photos and creating new stuff I played their songs all day long wanting always my visions to share the same atmosphere they created in their always original compositions. Dark, twisted, elegant, irrational, raw and at the same time refined is how I feel the sounds of these amazing musicians.

Zoos are kind of depressing places for me, but this was a great chance to know better my camera. I ended up exhausted with hundreds of stupid photos, but there’s a few I think have something to them.

First, I got a brand new NIKON D5000 for this new proyect, pheew! I’m a total noob with SLRs but I learned by now how to adjust lots of stuff it wasn’t possible with my old Canon S3 IS. I’m in love!
Second, I made myself a new notebook of stolen paper from work (yay) and carton to start working on a more detailed level in my ideas. I hope to start photoshoots within two weeks. So this week will consist on purchasing and collecting props and more importantly MODELS. I have a few girls on my mind I hope they have the time to help me out. I’m writing all those lists for now.
And… self-portraits with SLR’s are though to pull off. Tried. Textures from my last post 🙂

I started this as a preliminary image of a story I’m now dismissing for not having any solid base. It was a great exercise anyway as I was getting a little rusty on composition and lightning. The image is far from perfect, I even started to hate it some weeks ago, but now I appreciate the result as a part of a very pleasant process. I always try to not get lost with my meanings and concepts, difficult thing when I tend to over compose my images adding too many elements. In the end what surfaces are the most important details in it, that’s what I like about this one, the enthralling moment of losing her human form with no witnesses but silent creatures.

Out of need (and a bit of boredom), I make once in a while my own textures. Is an easy way to have a distinct look in my artworks and have fun. Later on, when I have more refined textures I’ll share it for you to download. For now:

On a not very pleasant night, I start this blog, one more lost in a vast pile of pictures and words. This little site will remain as a place to keep track of my progress, and why not show my process for others to learn something new or just feed curious eyes once in a while.
This year I’ll hopefully (ok, I MUST) finish my career, so I’m planning a professional portfolio based solely on my work as a photo-montagist. Concepts, preliminary images, inspiration, process, and behind cameras will be posted here with no exception!
